Average TicketThe average ticket, which is sometimes called the average sale, is the average off the amount of each sale the merchant typically makes. A merchant can request their average ticket amount from their transaction processing company at any time.To figure the average ticket the total amount of sales volume is divided by the total number of sales in a specific time period. When working with a transaction processing company, this tedious mathematics is done for the merchant. Knowing the average ticket is helpful to the merchant to know how much money, on average, they make for every customer that goes through the line. It balances out the customers who make high ticket purchases with the customers who make small purchases. Some merchants choose to look at the average ticket every single day, or once a week, whichever schedule they find to be the most helpful in planning the aspects of their business.
