How Safe Is Paypal?

Paypal continually uses many means in order to insure the highest safety standards of security for online transactions. While no system is foolproof, it remains one of the best. Here are some features of its safety to its users.
  • It Offers A Guarantee Against Identity Theft And Fraud
The simple way that it does this is by notifying the owner of the account of any transaction out of the account through email. This then allows the owner to file a fraud complaint if there should be any reason to do so. Whenever there may be a claim in this area, the Paypal customer service has many people ready to help you settle the issue.
  • Purchases Made Through Ebay May Be Insured To $1,000
Because Ebay owns Paypal, they now have a "Paypal Buyer Protection Plan" that they offer for purchases. There are, however, a number of limitations here. Basically, only certain things apply concerning the purchase - and it appears to be in the sellers favor, not the buyers. To them, unless there is really a major discrepancy, if anything was received at all from the seller, it is OK with them. About the only way to be safe is to try to get a rebate through your credit card company.

In this day of high-tech advancement and convenience, we also have the possibility of criminals wanting to get your personal information. Sure enough, some started an email requesting you to send your personal information on what appears to be an official request form from Paypal. It is very thorough in that it asks for just about everything dealing with your personal financial accounts --credit cards, checking, etc. Do not fall for it - it is not real. Report it immediately to Paypal, and they will take immediate steps to get that phony website shut down, and try to put an end to this Paypal scam.

Know that you know these things, it would be a good idea to learn how to use Paypal, and use it in your business. Although Paypal does have quite a few complaints against them, the consensus in answer to the question, how safe is Paypal, would have to be that it is still one of the best ways to quickly transfer money between two institutions, or two people.
