Phishing and the Different Online Transactions

1. Shopping carts
   Some shopping cart scripts and templates could be inserted with phishing programs that could transmit information back to the site that created them. If you are a Webmaster, don't just download pre crafted programs to run in your website. If you have to do so, make sure you get it from a very trusted source. Never download website programming scripts that asks for sensitive information, especially if you don't understand them at all. On the other hand, if you are the online shopper, be sure to check out the site address that your every click leads you. Know right away whether you are redirected somewhere else suspicious.
2. Balance Inquiry
   The mere checking of your account's outstanding balance is susceptible to phishing. Keep in mind that very important information like a password is all a hacker needs to dig in more about your account data. So if you want to check your balance online, make sure you are at the right place at all times. If anything has changed with the interface of what your bank's website, verify it with them before proceeding with any transaction.
3. Fund Transfers
   Fund transfers are basically accessed in the same way as a balance inquiry system. But usually, this transaction is facilitated in an entirely different page. So even though you are definitely sure that you are in your bank's website, always double check the name of the page where it needs your account information. You never know when a phishing program has crept into your system.
