Who Are The Providers of Trustee Privacy Seal

There are a couple of companies that provide the Privacy Seal. Others are starting to offer this service, and soon others will join them. Two of the major companies, though, are BBBonline and TRUSTe.

BBBonline
This seal is offered by that long-time friend of the consumer, the Better Business Bureau. Their BBBonline Privacy Seal Program is offered to companies that apply, and then are reviewed before their application is accepted. In order to qualify for the Seal, that company must also be able to be a member of their local Better Business Bureau. By obtaining your Seal from them you also get two additional benefits: your company gets listed on their trusted companies list (mentioned above), and BBB will aid you in disputes, if necessary.
TRUSTe
TRUSTe is a more recent company that has gained a lot of credibility because of some of the people, and companies affiliated with it. In addition to the TRUSTe Privacy Seal, they also offer an Email Privacy Seal which will verify that any company having that seal does not engage in either spamming or phishing through emails.

Having the endorsement of the Better Business Bureau speaks for itself - this is quite valuable. Basically it results in their saying this guy's site is legitimate - not much can beat that. While TRUSTee Privacy Seal is newer, it also is benefiting the sites that use that service, too. Both companies, the BBBonline Program, and the TRUSTe Privacy Seal Program, are currently engaged in resolving issues of customer complaints, as they promised to do. One final note is that some companies that use the TRUSTe Email Seal, claim that they have seen a 7% increase in newsletter sign-ups.

In drawing a final analysis of the programs, it appears that it is everything that an honest business would want. A few years ago Verisign came out with a verification symbol to do the same thing for being able to verify that information transacted over the Internet from a certain website was secure. The card credit number test Verisign came into being and immediately many more people began to show a greater confidence in the companies that displayed that sign. Both of these services are readily available to you, now, and you can soon display either the BBBonline Seal, or the TRUSTe Privacy Seal before long, and get those extra customers right behind them. Here is another such wave, and it would be wise for many businesses to get on that wave - ahead of their competition.
